The EU is running several large funding programmes, headlined by Horizon Europe, which tackles climate change, supports the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and boosts the EU’s competitiveness and growth.
The flagship innovation programme within Horizon Europe to identify, develop and scale up breakthrough technologies and game-changing innovations is the European Innovation Council (EIC). It has a budget of around €10 billion to support groundbreaking innovations throughout the lifecycle from early-stage research to proof of concept, technology transfer, demonstration & validation, and the financing and scale-up of startups and SMEs.
