About the Speaker
Hansruedi had 23 years experience in banking and risk management when he joined RiskBusiness in 2003 to start up their Zurich operation. His transfer to Hong Kong in 2005 to take care of the company’s activities in Asia and the Middle East underlines RiskBusiness’ strong and long term commitment to both Asia and the Middle East.
Following his studies at the Universities of Zurich and Hong Kong, Hansruedi started out as a foreign exchange and money market dealer for Barclays Bank International and Swiss Bank Corporation in Switzerland, New York, Hong Kong und Singapore. In 1991 he left the trading room and moved to SBC’s Corporate Center in Zurich, where he used his experience and knowledge to develop tools that benefited the traders. Three years later, he returned briefly to Singapore as regional market risk controller for FX and interest rate products.
Hansruedi returned to Zurich at the end of 1995 to build up Credit Suisse’s settlement risk management. Within a year, he expanded his focus to become Credit Suisse’s first Group Operational Risk Manager. In this function, he actively participated in industry meetings and initiatives, and as a member of the IIF Working Group on Operational Risk, had an active dialogue with the regulatory community on the shape of the Revised Capital Accord (Basel II).
Hansruedi was the initiator and co-founder of, and today is an honorary member of, FEDOR, a group of European Operational Risk Managers, who aim to achieve and promote best practice through regular dialogue and exchange of experience.
