It is with special joy that we launch this fourth edition of Business Angels Week 2016! BAW is the world’s largest cross-border angel investment awareness campaign, featuring Business Angels and Entrepreneurs from Europe, Middle East and Africa. Since its launch in 2013, Business Angels Week has featured more than 900 events in 60 countries and 3 continents, reflecting an active and growing angel investment community.
Now in its fourth year, Business Angels Week 2016 is bigger than ever with 304 events in 41 countries! This year’s edition is also marked by our wonderful cooperation with the Global Entrepreneurship Week in conjunction with the Global Business Angels Network and our partner networks, ABAN, the African Business Angels Network and MBAN, the MENA Business Angels Network.
The significance of holding the Business Angels Week concurrent with the Global Entrepreneurship Week is a big one. First, because GBAN, the Global Business Angel Network was initiated to help support all of the great work that the Global Entrepreneurship Week and Global Entrepreneurship Network is doing in each country around the world. Secondly, and most importantly, as EY says, “Capital without Mentorship is Lost Capital”. Business Angels bring experience, expertise, network and smart money to “start-ups” and help them “scale-up” to become global companies.
It is also with particular pleasure that I see the importance that Business Angels around the world have given to Business Angel Week. From Algiers to Astana, from Thessaloniki to Helsinki, from Lagos to London, Business Angels around the world are fueling innovation and growth.
It is still not too late to take part! If you wish to know more on how to participate, contact Ana Barjasic, BAW Coordinator at [email protected]
